PAMAPNGA -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) has yet to issue closure orders for three large smelting plants in San Simon town despite results of its recent investigation showing the factories’ alleged violation of environmental laws.The EMB recently issued its findings from the inspection and collection of air quality samples on December 11 to 15 last year, which show Wan Chiong Steel Corporation, Melters’ Steel Corporation and Real Steel Corporation allegedly violated Republic Act 8749 or the Philippine Clean Air Act and some of their terms in their Environmental Certificates (ECC).

The minimal four percent increase on price of basic goods due to the new tax law claiming that manufactures only spent less than 10 percent of its production cost to transport their goods. PAMPANGA -- The Department of Health (DOH) said that there has been a 71 percent decrease in the number of firecracker-related injuries compared to previous data from the same period last year.Aksyon Paputok Injury Reduction (APIR) Surveillance update as of January 2 showed a total of 149 firecracker-related injuries, which is 71 percent lower compared to 521 cases from the same period in 2016.
