PAMPANGA -- Police officers recently arrested the town's top eight most wanted person at Barangay San Juan here.

Suspect Efren Dimayuga, a resident of the said barangay, was arrested after being suspected of violating Section 11 (drug possession) of the Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

31 Aug 2015 - Drug pusher nabbed in Candaba

PAMPANGA -- Police officers here arrested on Saturday a 51-year-old man suspected of selling prohibited drugs in Barangay Paralaya.

Raymundo Balagtas, tagged as one of the town's five most wanted persons, was arrested in a buy-bust operation of the police.

Water at the reservoir was seen at 185.62 meters since last week due to the recent rains providing a much needed halt over the decreasing water level of the dam.

PAMPANGA -- Police arrested recently one of the suspects who allegedly stole three farming machines owned by Mayor Venancio "Asiong" Macapagal of this agricultural town.

Cops identified the suspect as Jesus Catacutan, 35, of Barangay San Juan, this town.

PAMPANGA -- The provincial government through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) will hold a job fair at the Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol compound this September 1, Tuesday.

PAMPANGA -- The local government here is set to use the P3-million fund from the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for infrastructure projects.

Mayor Condralito dela Cruz and Vice Mayor Dexter David formally received the funds from the DILG over the weekend in Clark Freeport.

PAMPANGA -- Governor Lilia Pineda appealed anew to the almost 400 upland farmers of Arayat to stop destructive farming practices as she gave them food packs for their weeklong consumption.

It was learned that most of the residents from villages near the mountain are upland farmers who cultivate slope areas and “slash-and-burn” portions of the forest which they converted into farmlands.

PAMPANGA -- First District Representative Joseller “Yeng” Guiao and chairman of the House Committee on Metro Manila Development Representative Winston Castelo have issued a strong warning to the Philippine air panel to refuse any request for additional landing rights to Manila that may be lodged by airlines of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the bilateral air talks currently being held in Manila.

The panel, headed by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), is meeting a delegation from the UAE government for negotiations to revise the air transport agreement between UAE and the Philippines, which fixes a maximum of 28 flights per week for UAE-Manila route operations.

PAMPANGA -- Records from the Department of Health Region III (DOH-3) showed that cases of tuberculosis (TB) in the province increased for the second quarter of the year.

Compared to the 1,800 estimated TB cases in the second quarter of the previous year, the DOH recorded 2,700 cases this year during the same period.

CLARK FREEPORT -- Pampanga First District Representative Joseller “Yeng” Guiao has filed House Bill 5939 calling for mandatory Philhealth coverage for all persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Guiao said that under the bill---“An Act Providing Mandatory PhilHealth Coverage for all PWDs, Amending for the Purpose of Republic Act 7277, as Amended by RA 9442 the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons,”--- people with disabilities, though having the same health needs as non-disabled people, have less access to health care services and therefore experience unmet health care needs, as noted by the World Health Organization.

27 Aug 2015 - Body of missing woman found in Masantol

PAMPANGA -- Police said that the body of woman who allegedly drowned at the Pampanga River was found yesterday morning at Barangay Nigui, here.

Police Officer 3 Efren Palpag said that around 5 a.m., the body of the victim was discovered and identified as Estephanie Mercado, 24, a resident of Barangay Pescadores, Candaba.

27 Aug 2015 - 7 dengue cases reported in Apalit

PAMPANGA -- Authorities said Thursday that a total of seven dengue cases in different barangays in Apalit were reported due to the southwest monsoon spawned by Typhoon "Ineng."

Municipal Health Office Nurse II Vilma Manlapaz said that Barangay San Juan had the highest rate of dengue cases.

ANGELES CITY -- The Sangguniang Panlungsod here has asked the House of Representatives to conduct an investigation on the Clark Green Frontier of Singapore-based Capilion Corporation PTE Limited.

The city councilors expressed their request to Congress through a resolution unanimously approved on Tuesday.

26 Aug 2015 - CDC: Capilion is within Clark Freeport

CLARK FREEPORT -- The 3.8-hectare property where Capilion would put up its Clark Green Frontier (CGF) Project is within the Clark Freeport Zone, the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) reiterated Wednesday.

Under Republic Act 9400, the location of the project falls within the Freeport. A survey map issued by the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) shows the boundaries of the Clark Freeport Zone and it includes the CGF area.

26 Aug 2015 - Police arrest LTO-3 Flying Squad man who shot colleague

PAMPANGA -- Within three hours, the suspect in the killing of a Land Transportation Office Central (LTO-3) Flying Squad member was arrested in his residence in Capas, Tarlac.

Superintendent Jean Fajardo, chief of police of City of San Fernando, said suspect Eleserio Magasael, also a member of the LTO-3 Flying Squad was in coordination with Capas police.

26 Aug 2015 - Mayor confident court will issue arrest warrant vs town hall thief

PAMPANGA -- Bacolor Mayor Jomar Hizon said Wednesday he is confident that the court will release the warrant of arrest for the municipal hall burglar who carted away some P500,000 from the treasury vault.

He also said that they already know the location of the suspect and will start to coordinate with the authorities there once the documents are ready.

PAMPANGA -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Pampanga sees Governor Lilia Pineda’s recent state of the province address or “Ulat Panlalawigan” report on the economic and business performance of the province as one of the positive indicators of the province's economic performance.

BIR RR4 officer-in-charge Conrado Lee said that Pineda's report particularly on fiscal performance and local revenue generation could serve as indicators on how BIR would set its collection targets.

PAMPANGA -- Police recently arrested a man for abuse against women and illegal detention at Barangay San Vicente, Apalit.

Police identified the suspect as Chryplerson Gomez, 38, who was accused by his live-in partner Rosally Lugue of beating and detaining her for almost five hours in their house.

25 Aug 2015 - MIAA: Flight diversion due to bad weather

CLARK FREEPORT -- An official of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has clarified that the diversion of nine Manila-bound flights to Clark International Airport (CRK) over the weekend was due to bad weather.

MIAA public relations officer David Faustino de Castro stated this in reaction to an article saying that the local flights were diverted to Clark due to air traffic congestion.

PAMPANGA -- Governor Lilia Pineda distributed Tuesday food packs to 1,100 indigents here as part of the provincial government's support to indigents during the typhoon season.

Pineda led the distribution along with Board Member Rosve Henson at the People's Gymnasium in San Fernando.

25 Aug 2015 - LTO-3 Flying Squad man guns down colleague

PAMPANGA -- A Land Transportation Office Central Luzon (LTO-3) Flying Squad member gunned down his law enforcement colleague after a heated argument at a gas station in Barangay San Isidro, San Fernando early morning Tuesday.

City of San Fernando Police Chief Superintendent Jean Fajardo identified the victim as Stanley Ferrer, of Otero Avenue, Barangay Mabayuan, Olongapo City, who died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.

25 Aug 2015 - BIR wants construction of 'Green Building' in January 2016

PAMPANGA -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region IV (RR4) in San Fernando is optimistic to start the construction of its eight storey "Green Building" by January 2016 as it sets to bid out the P650-million project this December.

BIR RR4 officer-in-charge Conrado Lee said they are now in the process of determining the green initiative measures for the building.

25 Aug 2015 - LTO licensing sites activated in Central Luzon

ANGELES CITY -- The Land Transportation Office has activated 25 sites in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Eastern Visayas for license issuances.

This is the agency’s response to the driver’s license backlog issue. Allcard Plastics will be responsible of the delivery of license cards over a 12 month period.

ANGELES CITY -- The historic Pamintuan Mansion which reopened on Monday as the Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas is expected to boost Angeles City's already thriving local tourism as the re-branded facility boasts of galleries showcasing Filipino culture and tradition.

“The conversion of the Pamintuan Mansion into a museum is good news for the city as we could expect around 500 visitors daily. We are now working at improving our Museo ning Angeles which was formerly the municipal hall so that we could transform this area into a heritage district along with the Holy Rosary Parish Church,” Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan said.

25 Aug 2015 - UN food program to establish food packaging center in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT -- The United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) is planning to establish a food packaging center here to support the government on its emergency response.

In a letter to Clark Development Corporation (CDC) dated March 17, 2015, the UNWFP requested for assistance to identify a 3,500 square meter permanent concrete warehouse inside the Freeport.

25 Aug 2015 - 'Ineng' leaves at least 4 dead in Central Luzon

PAMPANGA -- Four have been confirmed dead as heavy to intense rains caused by typhoon Ineng-enhanced southwest monsoon affected Central Luzon.

“Two-year-old Reannelyn Quintero and nine-month-old Regienry Quintero of Purok 2, barangay Manganvaka in Subic, Zambales both died of drowning due to flashflood at around 2:30 in the morning (Tuesday). Their house was swept away by strong current of water along Manganvaka River,” Office of Civil Defense Regional Director and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Council Chair Josefina Timoteo said.

24 Aug 2015 - Chinese Cook Hacked Dead

A stay-in female Chinese cook identified the victim as Li Shuiying, 41, was hacked to death at the kitchen of an employees’ residence here before dawn last Monday.

Her dead body was discovered by another employee at the kitchen of Residence 5 around 3:45 a.m.

24 Aug 2015 - 2 children drown, another missing in flashfloods

SUBIC BAY -- Two children drowned and another remains missing when their house was swept away by strong currents in Barangay Mangavaka, Subic, Zambales, early dawn Monday, disaster authorities said.

The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council III (RDRRMC-3) said that Reanne Quintero, 2, and his brother Regenty, 9 months old, died in the flashfloods at 2:30 a.m. Monday when their house was swept away by rampaging waters along Manganvaka River.

24 Aug 2015 - Drug couriers nabbed

PAMPANGA -- Suspected couriers of illegal drugs, Marvin Vino, 34, and Ronald Tiamson, 47, were nabbed by authorities here while conducting a checkpoint over the weekend.

Police recovered from Tiamson two sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and drug paraphernalia such as disposable lighter, aluminum foil strip and tooter.

24 Aug 2015 - Man arrested for child abuse, illegal firearm possession

PAMPANGA -- Police arrested a man for alleged child abuse and illegal possession of firearms recently at Barangay Sucad, Apalit.

The suspect was identified as Allan Pancho, 44, a resident of Calumpit, Bulacan and was accused by a 14-year-old male of physically abusing him, handcuffing and detaining him at the suspect's house for almost one day on August 15.

23 Aug 2015 - Yakimix reopens Angeles branch at Marquee Mall

ANGELES CITY -- Yakimix restaurant reopened on Sunday its branch at Marquee Mall here following its temporary closure last August 9.

The city government suspended the buffet restaurant’s operations after more than 40 persons allegedly suffered gastroenteritis and other illnesses after eating in the establishment.

22 Aug 2015 - Guv distributes land titles to NHA resettlement site beneficiaries

PAMPANGA -- At least 500 National Housing Authority (NHA) - Mount Pinatubo resettlement site beneficiaries received their titles for their houses and lots.

Governor Lilia Pineda and Ines Gonzales, NHA project manager for Pampanga, Bataan and Bulacan, led the distribution of titles to recipients from Bulaon (100 beneficiaries) in the City of San Fernando; Camachile (56), Mawaque (100) and Madapdap (44) in Mabalacat City; Pandacaqui 100) in Mexico; and Sta. Lucia (100) in Magalang resettlements.

PAMPANGA -- The western stretch of Jose Abad Santos Avenue from Magliman village to Lazatin Boulevard in this city is now fully lighted and safer for motorists and pedestrians after officials headed by Pampanga Third District Representative Oscar Rodriguez jointly turned the main switch of hundreds of LED lamps on Thursday evening.

Rodriguez said the P43.9-million Road Board "Preventive Maintenance National Road Lighting Program" along the former Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Road being implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways' First District Engineering Office is just the initial stage of lighting up vital routes, which includes MacArthur Highway or the Manila North Road.

22 Aug 2015 - Mayor to personally check wirings of burnt drugstore

PAMPANGA -- The Bureau Fire Station (BFP) in Candaba said Friday that Mayor Rene Maglanque of this town will personally check the electrical wirings of a drugstore here, which was gutted by fire last Sunday.

FO1 Terence Dela Cruz said that after the drugstore is reconstructed, the mayor will lead the inspection.

ANGELES CITY -- Some 30 street children were rescued in two separate operations conducted by officials of Barangay Balibago here.

Balibago village chairman Rodelio "Tony" Mamac said that they conducted the rescue following several complaints and reports that some of the kids are exploited for illegal activities.

21 Aug 2015 - Angeles execs set to file tax relief ordinance

ANGELES CITY -- At least five members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod here are set to file an ordinance granting relief in the form of condonation of interests, penalties and surcharges of unpaid real property (RPT) taxes in the city starting 2010 up to 2014.

This was learned from Councilor Alex Indiongco, who disclosed that he and four other members of the city council’s majority bloc, have sponsored the ordinance upon Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan’s request.

21 Aug 2015 - HIV/Aids cases in Central Luzon up 24.5%

PAMPANGA -- The Department of Health (DOH) recorded a 24.5 percent increase in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (Aids) cases in Central Luzon in June 2015 compared to the same period last year.

“There were 61 cases this year which is a significant increase from the 49 reported cases in 2014,” DOH Regional Epidemiologist Jessie Fantone said.

PAMPANGA -- The City Health Office of San Fernando is set to provide its annual flu vaccine to all city hall employees on the month of August this year.

Rural health physician Dr. Cindy Canlas administered the vaccine to Mayor Edwin Santiago, during Monday’s flag raising ceremony, to lead the ceremonial vaccination.

10 Aug 2015 - Capitol opens P12.5-M development center

PAMPANGA -- The provincial government led by Governor Lilia Pineda, together with Senator Cynthia Villar, formally opened yesterday the Pampanga Center for Development (PCD) in Barangay Moras dela Paz, Sto Tomas to equip Kapampangans with needed trainings and seminars attuned for human and community development.

The newly and fully renovated two buildings vacated by the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) -- funded at an amount of P12.5-million by the provincial government -- will be used as facilities for the trainings and seminars for out-of-school youths, college graduates who will undertake review classes and local officials for their professional growth.

10 Aug 2015 - Porac gets P7-M fire truck

PAMPANGA -- The Municipal Government of Porac received one of 80 1000-gallon fire trucks from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), through the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), as part of the first batch of 469 fire trucks to be distributed all over the country.

Vice Mayor Dexter David said that they formally received the new vehicle at Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba, Laguna City over the weekend.

10 Aug 2015 - Cheaper flour pushes down bread, noodle prices

ANGELES CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently reported that the suggested retail prices (SRP) of bread products like Pinoy tasty and pandesal have dropped due to the steady decrease in the price of hard flour.

The Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau (CPAB) of DTI said that the baking industry implemented a P0.50 to P1 reduction in the price of loaf bread while the price of 10 pieces of pandesal was reduced by P1.

PAMPANGA -- Central Luzon residents are urged by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to support and actively participate in the conduct of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) which begins Tuesday.

“POPCEN 2015 is designed primarily to take an inventory of the population of the entire Philippines. It also collects information about some characteristics of the population such as age, sex, marital status, and highest grade completed,” PSA Interim Regional Director Edgardo Pare said.

9 Aug 2015 - Armed men caught on camera robbing steel store

PAMPANGA -- Police were called to the LMD Steel in Barangay Sampaloc, Apalit last Thursday afternoon but the robbers managed to get away after stealing some P20,000 worth of cash and gadgets from the victims.

Police said that two unidentified men entered LMD Steel, pointed their short firearms at the victims and declared hold-up.

9 Aug 2015 - Reduce use of paper, BIR official urges men

PAMPANGA -- Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region 3 officer-in-charge Conrado Lee has called on personnel of the regional office here to help in protecting the environment by reducing the consumption of paper and printing only necessary documents.

He encouraged employees to print only necessary documents and to make use of digital formats in ordinary office community. Lee said that it takes 12 trees to make one ton of 100 percent non-recycled newsprint.

The Notice of Temporary Closure dated August 7 was signed by City Administrator Dennis Pamintuan pending the result of the test on food, water supply, additives, ingredients collected from the restaurant.

Four policemen were relieved after a detainee, Arnaldo Nunag, 50, a former member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and resident of Barangay Pandan, escaped from the detention cell of the City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group (CAIDSOTG) office in Angeles City on Wednesday.

5 Aug 2015 - JASA drainage systems need massive overhaul

PAMPANGA -- Officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and San Fernando City Government here said that major drainage systems along the vital Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA), particularly the 150-meter stretch along the Dolores intersection and flyover, will need massive overhaul to avoid a repeat of deep and prolonged flooding that occurred last month.

In the last two weeks of July when heavy monsoon downpours caused flashfloods in the area, hundreds of pedestrians and motorists coming off from work were stranded, forcing many to stay overnight at offices, convenience stores and sleep in transport terminals.

5 Aug 2015 - Pampanga, Bulacan may sustain P3-B in losses due to El Niño

PAMPANGA -- The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) said that areas that depend on the Angat Dam for their water supply may sustain P3.82-billion worth of damages to their agricultural production due to the effects of the El Niño phenomenon.

NIA's projection covers 47,950 hectares farmlands or 225,000 metric tons of rice. The areas are within Pampanga and Bulacan provinces whose farmlands are serviced by the by Angat-Maasin River Irrigation System (AMRIS).

5 Aug 2015 - Fisherfolk get P2.8-M food aid, P1.4-M cash from vice-governor

PAMPANGA -- Vice Governor Dennis Pineda distributed on Wednesday at least P2,839,000 worth of food assistance and additional P1,419,500 in cash to 2,839 affected fisherfolk in six towns due to a recent fishkill in Pampanga River.

The number of fisherfolk-beneficiaries are as follows: 490 from Candaba, 147 from San Luis, 556 from San Simon, 650 from Masantol, 254 from Macabebe and 742 from Apalit.

PAMPANGA -- The crime rate in this town decreased due Oplan Lambat Sibat, police disclosed on Wednesday.

Following the guidelines and procedures of Oplan Lambat Sibat, police here led by Police Superintendent Allan Barruga Palomo said they were able to decrease crime rate by 9.59 percent and increase crime solution efficiency by 6.11 percent based on 2014 reports.

PAMPANGA -- The Provincial Board (PB) headed by Vice Governor Dennis Pineda has ratified a total of 535 resolutions and 51 ordinances catering mostly to significant needs of Kapampangans in 38 sessions and 109 committee hearings in 2014.

One of the resolutions approved last year was the Senior Citizens Code of the province. The said ordinance led to the creation of the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Senior Citizens.
